Thank you for visiting us at Opus 118. I appreciate our hardworking board of directors, administrative staff, teachers, and of course, our dedicated music students who make all of our efforts worthwhile. Every student is capable of learning an instrument and music education soon becomes a vital part of a child’s life. When public schools are unable to provide the quality music education that our children deserve, then it is time to take matters into our own hands. This is why we began Opus 118. Music expresses emotion in a way that overcomes all social and cultural barriers. When students learn to play an instrument, they learn to focus, work hard, and these lessons are important no matter what a student does throughout life.

I can think of no greater pleasure or challenge than to participate in the education and artistic development of our children. I love helping them begin a life-long process of self-discovery as they tap into their talents and strengths, all the while gaining a sense of self-worth and pride through music. We rely on music and our relationships with other people to help us through our most difficult times. Opus 118 helps the community by bringing like-minded people together in support of our students and their music.

Friends, community neighbors, and our family members, I welcome and encourage all of you to continue your support of Opus 118 Harlem School of Music. Together we can overcome the challenges we face. I am hopeful for the future and I encourage you to join me in supporting our students' music education.
